The 10 Most Popular Groceries In The United States

New lists take a considerable amount of time to compile but ought to be published on a yearly basis. This page will host our most recent list.

These figures were obtained from magazines SN and Progressive Grocer as well as Forbes, Market Watch, and other publicly available sources. Remember that we advise you to consider all the notes found in this note.

Walmart once again topped our list for the industry leader in grocery sales (it accounted for more than a quarter of all grocery revenues in the United States) with $467 billion in 2021 grocery sales.

This amount included over $73 billion in U.S. Walmart’s contribution to U.S. Sam’s Club, which is owned and operated by Walmart.

Walmart is not classified as a supermarket, but its U.S. grocery store market is superior to all other grocers and is, by far, the largest grocery store.

AMAZON (Online and physical stores)

From the previous list, we did not include Amazon at that time. Still, with an ever-expanding brick-and-mortar food sales tally and the effects of the pandemic on the business, we have pegged Amazon as the 2 grocery retailer in the country.
